GdP-Bundesvorstand gedenkt Opfern des Rassismus

Potsdam/Berlin.

Seine Sitzung unterbrach der Bundesvorstand der Gewerkschaft der Polizei am Mittwoch, 21. März 2012 in Potsdam zu einer Gedenkminute für die Opfer des Rassismus. Damit unterstrichen die Vorstandsmitglieder ihren Appell für einen verstärkten Einsatz gegen Fremdenfeindlichkeit, Gewalt und Extremismus.

Die UN-Vollversammlung hatte 1966 den 21. März zum "Internationalen Tag zur Beseitigung der Rassendiskriminierung" erklärt, nachdem sechs Jahre zuvor mehrere tausend Menschen in der südafrikanischen Stadt Sharpeville, gegen das Apartheid-Regime protestiert hatten. Polizisten hatten auf die Demonstranten geschossen. Dabei waren 70 Menschen getötet worden.
