Witthaut: „Brand-Sätze provozieren Brandsätze“

Berlin.

In der hitziger werdenden Debatte um die anhaltenden Brandanschläge auf Kraftfahrzeuge in Berlin ruft der Bundesvorsitzende der Gewerkschaft der Polizei (GdP), Bernhard Witthaut, zur Mäßigung auf. Witthaut: „Brand-Sätze provozieren Brandsätze. Wer die unsägliche Auto-Brandstiftungserie zur persönlichen Profilierung nutzen will, wertet die Taten schlichter Krimineller auf und heizt Nachahmer an.“

Die brennenden Autos von Berlin seien, nach Auffassung der GdP, für Bürgerinnen und Bürger wie Polizei sehr beunruhigend. Wer nun die Ängste der Menschen für womöglich eigene Ambitionen instrumentalisiere, drehe an der Eskalationsschraube. Witthaut: „Die Berliner Polizei braucht jetzt Unterstützung in der Bevölkerung und den Rückhalt in der Politik. Wer die unsäglichen Brandstifter zu Beinahe-Terroristen hochredet, facht die nächsten Brandnächte an und fällt der Berliner Polizei in den Rücken.“
